frequently asked questions

(and answers, too!)

q:

How long will it take to complete my organizing project?

a:

The time it takes to complete a project varies depending on the goals you have set for yourself. Your commitment to completing the project is of the utmost importance. If you have a deadline to meet such as a presentation at work or an upcoming move, we will do everything possible to ensure that you meet that deadline. You set the pace for the project. Cluttershrink will work with you as quickly or as slowly as you want. Feeling comfortable and at ease with the organizing process is essential to the success of any organization system.

q:

Will Cluttershrink just show me what to do or actually help me through the process?

a:

Cluttershrink provides hands-on consultations. In addition to teaching you new techniques and tips, we will actually go through and containerize your items with you. We are not afraid to crawl on the floor, dive into unopened boxes, or sort through piles of mysterious papers. We approach every project with enthusiasm to make the organizing process interactive and enjoyable for you.

q:

How do I keep from feeling overwhelmed?

a:

If you feel overwhelmed during the organizing process, you are not alone. To minimize these feelings, break each project into smaller projects. Instead of asking yourself how you are going to organize an entire room, ask yourself instead how you plan to organize a smaller portion of that room. Look at the bookshelf, for example, and focus on organizing your books. After you complete that task, move on to another area. Start with an easy area first. Your confidence will increase after you successfully complete that task and provide the motivation to move onto something more challenging.

q:

I have purchased products in the past in an attempt to get organized, but most of them have not worked for me. Will Cluttershrink help make recommendations for organizational products/tools?

a:

The key to buying products that will get you and help you stay organized is to first figure out what kind of organizational system works best for you. If you buy products first and then attempt to design a system around them, you may not end up with the most efficient system. Cluttershrink designs organizational solutions based on the way you live and/or work. Then Cluttershrink makes recommendations for organizational tools to enhance that system.
